The Pre-war Slide Show

One of the pre-war planning documents for Iraq is now available thanks to the Freedom of Information Act that Dick Cheney so vehemently opposed. And you can see why he opposed: this document is so putrid and vile it should never have been made public. It is an embarrassment to a misled nation.

But yes you can view it. Yes you can read the whole sorry shambles. And yes, it’s awful. The New York Times has the article here: A Prewar Slide Show Cast Iraq in Rosy Hues

There is nothing to add except to repeat once more that the mess in Iraq is the doing of a small extraordinarily ideological and venal group who betrayed America. In any other realm they’d be fired, excoriated, and tried for crimes. In contemporary American politics they get away with it. More than that: they have to nerve to try to blame the rest of us for their abject and pathetic failure.

The rampant incompetence and arrogance that infests this so-called analysis is simply awe inspiring. Subsequently hubris met its nemesis. Dreamworld thinking met reality. Bush destroyed thousands of lives based upon this puerile, trivial, rubbish. The depth of thinking and understanding portrayed in this document is less than pre-school quality. The neo-cons purged anything remotely realistic and we, and the Iraqis, are paying the consequences.

America was betrayed. Yet the incomepetence still thrives. What more damage will they do before they leave for the safety and security of their right wing think tank desk jobs?

I shudder to think.
