Iraq Defeat?

All the signs are that the right wingers are lining up their arguments ahead of the upcoming American withdrawal from Iraq. There is no way that such a withdrawal can be viewed as a victory, or even an honorable draw … it’s a defeat, pure and simple. The armed forces performed as well as can be expected given that they were underpowered for the mission and inept at occupation [they were great for invasion]. The failure is that no one thought about what would happen after the technological advantage America had on day one was rendered ineffective by the conditions existing after the invasion. Apparently the American army is undersized, under equipped, and tactically ill prepared for holding down what it spectacularly gains. So a loss it is.

And the right wingers are lashing out at … the American public. Yes that’s right. Bush’s disaster, the Neo-Cons naivety, the underplanning, the graft, the obstinate stupidity of the administration, and their breathtaking incompetence are not to blame for the impending failure. You and I are. Apparently we don’t have the stomach for what needs to be done. We don’t have the spirit to see the thing through. We mistakenly think that America has been bloodied and cannot win. We use naughty words like “civil war” when all right thinking people [pun intended] can easily see we are the brink of victory and that the insurgency is in its last throes. Folks we are being accused of stabbing Bush in the back.

The nerve. These right wingers should all be shipped there so they can sought it out on the ground rather than from the comfort of their well padded chairs at their think tanks.

What a load of …
