Violent Crime Rises

Violent crime in the US rose for the first time in five years, with the fastest rise coming … you guessed it in those red states, bastions of morality and civility. The New York Times has the report here: Violent Crime Is Up for 1st Time in 5 Years

Most of the largest cities acrosss the country saw a decrease in violent crime, but those improvements were offset by dramatic increases in places like Birmingham Alabama. Seems like some of those budget cuts the Republicans love so much actually have an impact: the funding for Federal level crime fighting has been cut during the Bush regime, and now the results are showing up!
