George’s Ratings

George Bush is having a rotten run. Not only is he surrounded by scandal and being set upon by his hard right supporters, but now his ratings are truly miserable. Even in states like North Carolina he is mistrusted by a large majority of voters. Increasingly Americans are seeing him as a far right wing ideologue. Which he is. His ability to scam and sham his way past his obvious failings has fallen away. The odd thing is that he semingly doesn’t care: his nomination of Alito is a sop to the religious fanatics who now run the Republican party; his failure to come clean on the Iraq war and Cheney’s conniving bamboozling of us all stains his integrity; and his recent appointment of nine [yes nine] of his biggest campaign donors to the Foreign Intelligence Committee is a simply breathtaking example of good old Texan cronyism [can we all say Brownie?] Does he ever learn? No. So does he care? No. The problem is that we are stuck with him. The joke’s on us!
