Jobs

It just occurred to me, and forgive me if you already realize this, but: at the present rate of job creation, we will, in two months, have added more jobs to the economy than we did in the entire Bush administration. All eight years of it.

I know it’s a very low bar to hurdle over. Historically low in fact. But, nonetheless it strikes me as a shocking reminder of the depth of our problem. Our economy has been fading away for years. The crisis merely exposed an underlying structure so full of rot and weakness, that it is still hard to accept.

So here we are in the throes of what I consider to be a middling recovery from a precipitous decline, and we are already ahead of the pace set by Bush.

That’s flat out scary.
