The ball is in Bush’s court. He can see the light and step back from the crisis or he can humiliate himself and possibly destroy the Republican party for the foreseeable future. The fall out from this fight will color politics in America for decades. The bitterness and rancor in Congress is palpable. The dissatisfaction with the White House has reached into both parties. This is a real crisis.
The question is simple: which is more important to Bush? His ego or the country?
