You must watch this YouTube segment. It features former Deputy Attorney General James Comey testifying before the Senate Judiciary committee about the Bush regime’s efforts to get its illegal wiretapping program authorized by the Justice Department in March 2004. Now we can see why it was necessary for Bush to send Gonzales to the DoJ: it was not complying with his efforts to expand his executive powers. It had to be neutered. Gonzales has succeeded admirably in making the Justice Department a weak adjunct to the White House.

Comey’s account of what went on that night back in March 2004 is chilling. Officials of the Administration, fully supported by the President, went to the hospital bed of then Attorney General Ashcroft in order to get him to authorize a secret program [widely thought to be the illegal wiretapping program] even though they knew full well that he was incapacitated [he was in intensive care] and had previously refused to give his authorization while he was well!

Bush was involved personally in orchestrating this outrage.

Give Comey credit: he acted in the interests of the country and so did all the others involved at the FBI and the DoJ.

Also note that the White House continued to operate the program even after it had been told it was illegal.

Now try to tell me that Bush is anything other than a rogue maniac.

The man has no shame and no semblance of decency. Not only did he act shamefully, he acted illegally.
