Wanted: War Czar
Well it’s official. No one lives at the White House any longer. At last no one with any experience or aptitude for running trivial things like the Iraq war. How do we know this? Because the administration [exactly who are they nowadays?] has been searching for a “War Czar” to coordinate the State Department, the Defense Department and so on and have overall control of the war effort. Here’s the Washington Post article that gives the whole story: 3 Generals Spurn the Position of War ‘Czar’
Now maybe I am a bit thick, but I thought we already had someone for that job. Someone who has the title “Commander-in-Chief”, which is exactly what it seems this war czar would be. So: either the White House is now vacant, and we just weren’t told, or our current C-in-C has decided that running the war is too boring, too difficult, or just plain too “yesterday” for his eminent wartime skills. Apparently he has other things to do, like riding his bike, chopping logs and chatting with the dog. What he definitely does not want to do is be involved in rotten, time consuming stuff like running his own war.
If this report is right it looks as if Bush has “cut and run”.
Or, for the more conspiratorial of you: he’s disappeared.
No we wouldn’t be that lucky. He’s just not up the task, and needs help. Kind of like having training wheels on a bike.
What a joke he has become.
